PM: Russia to start administrative reform on Jan 1 to end on Apr 1
MOSCOW, Nov 16 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will start an administrative reform, which will last for three months, on January 1, 2021, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told his deputy prime ministers on Monday.
“The dates of the administrative reform were delayed several times due to different reasons like the situation with the coronavirus. We cannot delay it anymore,” he said.
He added that the system of public administration should be adjusted swiftly and well in accordance with an order of President Vladimir Putin.
“I suggest starting optimization of the administrative system on January 1 and not to drag our feet on it, but to finish it in three months, by April 1,” Mishustin said.
The government will create a special working group that would be tasked with optimization of personnel of the federal authorities. Almost 20% of jobs in the federal government are vacant, but the government does not need a large staff to conduct the reform. It needs a rationally formed office of competent specialists and a strictly defined sphere of responsibilities of each federal authority, Mishustin said.
